Last month was not an easy month to endure. There were many good things that happen, but when life hits those negative things can seem to over shadow them. With 3 deaths in a matter of weeks of people who are close to me can be more than I can manage. But I have made the decision that its so much more important to look for the good.
Many people do one thing they are thankful for everyday of November and I have done that as well in the past. This year I have been reminded over and over again that I need to consciously find the good. So this month I am going to do just that!
For me wellness comes from my mental state. Everything starts with a thought. If I let the negative thoughts live in the front of my mind they start to take over. They over power the good things that bring me joy everyday. I don't want to live in that way. Depression is a real battle! People face it in many different degrees. I know I experience it, but I am recognizing what helps me battle the depression when it comes.
So here is the list of thankfulness that helps me stay mentally well. These are all generated from things that happened each day that reminded me to be grateful.
November 1
-I am so grateful for my best friend Vanessa who came to visit me and helped distract me from letting the loss of friends and family. She has always helped me see the positive in life.
November 2
-Grateful for my husband who has become such a cute daddy! He loves to spend the days he has off just laughing and playing as a family!
November 3
-I am grateful for the Temple and the peace it brings into my life. I am grateful for the knowledge that I have my family forever. The Lord has promised me that much!
November 4
-Grateful for technology to keep in touch with family and friends. I love that they are just a phone call away.
November 5
-I am grateful for my mom and that she was able to help me through a hard moment. She listened to the things that are hard and let me cry out the emotions. Its scary when emotions show up and they hurt to the point where it scares us to feel them. But if someone is there to help us through it its a little less scary.
November 6
-Grateful for modern medicine and how it helps us overcome sickness.
November 7
-Grateful for a dinner date night out with m husband! We got to just sit and talk and date each other again! I am also grateful that the Nashville Predators won their game!!! WOOHOO!!!!!!!
November 8
-Grateful my son falls asleep on his own. It makes nap time and bed time so easy! Yesterday after he woke up from his nap he was still really sleepy. He fell asleep on my lap after his nap and I love that I got to snuggle my baby because it doesn't happen very often.
November 9
-Grateful for my brother Clint who has absolutely loved being an uncle and will always play with him, and is always watching for how he can help me with Bryce.
Well I am all caught up. I hope to be able to do one post a day instead of keeping notes and then having to catch up.
Looking back is always a way for me to see the blessings in my life. I want to be able to fill my life with positive feelings that reach every corner of my life. Blessings don't have to come in big extravagant packages. Most days the things that make me smile are when my son wants me to chase him around the stairs all day, or my husband got off an hour earlier than we expected. Its the small things that make the most difference.
Find the small things in life that bring a smile to your face. Find a way to remember those moments for when negativity seems to be drowning out the good.
Its the smiles that make life worth it!
