GET OFF THE COUCH!!!!

Confession time. Last week my whole household got sick!! It was awful! Don't worry no details!

It started with my son. That was draining by itself. A sick baby is the worst! There is nothing you can do to make it better except cuddles. So we got one run in last week. Tuesday we got a run in. That was the only one...

After a few days we decided to just get out and walk a couple miles. So Thursday we went to a local park and walked the 2 mile loop around the lake. It was beautiful. Even though it wasn't a run we got out and got a few miles!

The best part about going to these kinds of places to run or just to get out is the nature you can see. We saw a total of 6 deer! I love deer! I always have. When we are on a long run and all of a sudden we see a deer in the middle of the path, it gives me a little boost to keep going.

Saturday it was my turn to get sick.... The most important thing during training is to make sure you are listening to your body. Normally you will get little things like a stuffy nose, or not get enough sleep so you don't have a lot of energy, and those things I am able to run through. Most of the time I feel better after running through feeling crummy. But this time it was not that way. It wasn't just a little off, but like wanting to be in bed all day.

My husband was able to stay home and help out a little bit. While our son was down for a nap I got a nice foot rub from him. (He was watching football!) Foot rub and gatorade makes everything better!!

The hardest battle with being sick is not just getting through it, its getting the motivation to get started again! This is where having an accountability partner is so crucial! With an accountability partner, you have an extra push to get out. There is motivation inside that gets it started. Otherwise you wouldn't be reading this blog or training. This partner doesn't have to be a runner. They can be into another form of workout or just someone who will call and check on your training if you feel you need an extra boost or push to get you OFF THE COUCH!!!

So my accountability partner is my mom. She has helped get me up and going and keep me motivated! Who is your accountability partner? Don't have one? Go find one!! Write their name down. Share your goals. Your training schedule. EVERYTHING! But also make sure they would like to be that driving force for you. They will need to be just as diligent in following up with you as you are to training.

Yoga, Kind Strangers, and BUTTONS!

Okay so I got to try out my yoga mat today! I loved it! I loved the cushion it gave when you were sitting, or using your hands during movements like downward dog. It felt stable and it felt relaxing. Before I was using just a towel. The towel was super thin but it worked for what I needed it to. Now going to a mat that has some cushion I think its perfect for beginners as they build strength in their joints like wrist and ankles. I felt stable and that it gave my foot extra support because it was filling in the gaps from my foot to the floor. Like the arch of my foot. It wasn't like it was flat against the floor but I have been feel over where my balance was and better support when standing on one leg. Also its cute! I have a thing for the color blue so almost everything I buy is some shade of blue. My son had to make sure he was just as involved as I was! Tonight he was little bit more engaged in what I was doing. When I would do downward dog (that is his favorite pose)...
