Shopping during lunch...Not good for anyone!

My mom and I are trying to eat more salads during the week instead of just at dinner. We cook extra meat during dinner so we have left overs to go with our salads. Its the best!

When we get home from the store we chop every thing up and put it in separate containers so that at lunch you can just pick what toppings you want and toss it all together in a delicious salad! Well we decided to do that this week. So we needed to go to the store. I volunteered to go since my son was begging to get out of the house! I didn't really pay attention to what time it was just that he was begging to go somewhere. Well of course its lunch time.

Now I had snacks in my bag for him because he is always hungry it seems when we leave the house. I left home once without a snack because I thought that we had just eaten lunch he won't be hungry....I have never made that mistake again.

Well while shopping for all the good veggies I got him some cherry tomatoes because those are his favorite. He will eat them all day long! Especially during the summer when he can go and get them from the garden! That is his favorite place to be in the summer! So I put them in the cart and go to find some more yummy salad toppings.... He started whining for something. I couldn't tell at first what he was trying to say. Finally he was able to turn around enough to point to the cherry tomatoes! Well you buy them by the pack not the pound so I figured he would just eat a couple.

This is how he smiles for pictures!

I only had a few more things to get down different aisles. I didn't really pay too much attention to how much he was eating... Well by the time we got to the check out he only had about 10 left. Well the lady at the check out stand thought it was amazing that my son would even eat them let alone the whole package! My son LOVES fruits and veggies. If he could just eat those he would be the happiest camper around! By the time I got to the car this is what I saw....

An empty container! I can't be mad because at least they are good for him and he was happy the whole time I was shopping. I bought a few things that weren't on the list due to my hunger but overall I was really good! Moral of the story if you are going to go shopping during lunch follow the example of my son (I am trying to work on this myself), and choose and healthy option instead of just whatever is available or indulging.
