Any yoga fans out there?!? Well I have thought yoga is a good thing but I haven't really given it a fair try. The best I did was last time I was pregnant I wanted something active to do that I knew wasn't strenuous. So a friend of mine, who was also pregnant, we went to yoga once a week. We were pretty far along in our pregnancies and so our sense of balance wasn't great! It was pretty comical at times when we were trying to balance! We figured out we should put our mats next to a post in the room so we could use that to help us balance!
So recently my mom and I decided to give it a real shot. My sister is a huge fan of yoga and I went to a class with her a couple of times but not enough to really know the benefits. Still doing some research but so far I have really enjoyed it!
Being a mom I don't always feel like I have time during the day to workout, or I don't want to have to feel like I am bothering someone to watch my son while I workout. I loved running because he loves being in the stroller and so I never felt it was a big deal.
Recently I have been trying to do at home workouts while my son naps.... Now that takes away most of my rest time which is not the worst thing but some days its just nice to relax while the baby naps. Moms you know what I am talking about! Well today we did something a little different!
We decided to workout while he was awake! I set out a blanket for him to use as a yoga mat. I used a towel since I am still so new to this, and mom had her yoga mat. We were stretching at this point and this little goober thought that he could do it to! But he had to sit on a pillow while doing it. It didn't last long though....He was soon on the move! I don't know if we got the full benefit of relaxation, but we did feel a lot better!
The collection of toys, books, shoes, and beverages brought to me while doing yoga.
We started to feel a little more relaxed and our muscles felt looser! I liked it so much that we went out and bought me a yoga mat!
Did you know there are different thicknesses of yoga mats??? I didn't until I went to the store. So I called my yoga expert! My little sister! She told me that she had both a thinner mat and a thicker mat. She personally preferred the thicker one so that it was softer on her knees when they were kneeling and on her hands when she does the cool handstands and stuff. So I decided to try it out! We shall see how I like it!
I am going to do some research on the benefits of yoga and the different benefits of yoga mat thickness. Stay tuned for what I find out!
If you have any questions let me know and I will see what I can find out!
